Cedric Ndaw: Q&A on the NFL Lockout

The NFL Lockout
Cedric Ndaw is a freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University.  He played football at Lake Braddock High School, and has kept up with football on all levels since.
Do you watch the National Football League?
“Yes I do, the Dallas Cowboys are my favorite team.”
Have you heard anything regarding the potential lockout next season?
“I’ve heard a little about it on ESPN, but I’m not sure exactly what’s happening.”
Well if a lockout were to occur, what do you think the impact on the football season next year would be?
“I mean the NFL plays a big part in America. There are millions of fans out there and I’m sure they would be really disappointed if the NFL wasn’t here. Plus I feel like it will really affect the economy.”
In that case, do you think that NCAA Football would be able to pick up the slack left behind?
“No, I feel like that would put a lot more pressure on them (the NCAA). It would also force some of the talent to stay extra years in college while the new ones coming in will not show their full potential.”
If NCAA Football was unable to pick up the slack do you think that another sport such as Major League Baseball or the National Basketball Association could help fill the void?
“No, because football is already such a big part of American's lives.”
If the lockout were to occur, how do you think the NFL’s fan base would be affected in future seasons?  Do you think there would be a decline in viewership and ticket sales?
“The amount of fans will decrease and people will not be into the NFL as much, so the tickets sales will go down.”
According to Ndaw, if the NFL is unable to sort out its labor disputes, they may face the same fate of National Hockey League, following lockout following the 2004-2005 season.
